The Canadian

Transcontinental sleeper train, borne in the 1950's as a service from Canadian Pacific Rail and expanded in the 1970's after aquision from Via Rail Canada. 4 nights to travel from (once Montreal) Toronto to Vancouver.

Anytime rail transportation in Canada is written about, it should be framed within the context of Canada as a colonial project, the genocide and displacement of Indigenous nations througout North America, the exploitation of immigrants, and ecocide. The railway through the Rocky Mountains was notably consturcted by 17,000 Chinese railway workers between 1881 and 1885.
